This is my beloved.  He's handsome. He's my valentine.  And my love. And he's all mine!

I love nearly everything last thing about this man.  He's loyal, my best friend, charming, insanely intelligent, confident, charismatic, a big dreamer, motivated, highly attractive and well really the list goes on & on.

This will be our 5th valentines to spend together but out FIRST as a married couple.  I am excited to spend this special day of love with him :)

I love you my sweet valentine.

Happy Birthday to my sweet, giving, motherly (wink wink), intelligent (cerebral stud only in a girl form), selfless, witty, inspiring, always dreaming up a grand plan, friend who I couldn't imagine living with out.  I'm so happy your parents got busy 26 (plus 9 months) years ago & created YOU! I love you very very much girlfriend.  Thanks for always being true to yourself and never changing (except for the best of course).

Looking forward to celebrating your birthday with you tonight has kept me smiling this week!

roller coaster of a weekend

I had a somewhat rough weekend.

On Friday I had the privilege of spending the day at Oklahoma Mission of Mercy giving local anesthesia to patients needing dental work.  Most of which were extractions :( It was great seeing a lot of my coworkers from the office I work at volunteering as well.  I really do work with some great people.  Here is a pic from the end of the day... we were looking a little rough err tired at this point.

This is when the story takes a drastic turn for the worst.  I'm driving home at the end of a long yet rewarding day and it's snowing AGAIN. I call Mr. Sophisticate & he's outside with Sebastian and says uh-oh babe I think I can hear watering running in the garage.  Yup of freaking course our pipes burst in the garage... water everywhere.  Luckily there is a drain in the garage & there was no real damage besides my emotional state.  So, the hubs had to turn off our water.  Thank the good lord we have a friend that's plumber and said he could come over Saturday at noon, which we were/are SO thankful for him.  We had to stick it out at the house Friday night & Saturday till noon with NO WATER. Hello... uh I need to use the bathroom.  So Saturday I went over to my friend Julie's house to shower, brush my teeth, use the restroom you know all the normal things I take for granted daily.  Our friend fixed our pipes and our hot water phew! We had been with out hot water since Tuesday.

Unfortunately I had to miss OKMOM on Saturday.  One of my pet peeves is when people commit to something and then back out of it.  Oh boy does that errk me.  Well that's what I did on Saturday.  I felt like having NO water & figuring out what our next step should be was vital for Saturday.  So I stayed home till we got everything squared away- well minus going over to Julie's to shower.

Saturday evening I remembered The Pioneer Woman was supposed to have a book signing at Full Circle Bookstore in OKC.  I assumed it was cancelled since she cancelled her signing in Tulsa the Thursday before because of the weather.  However, I went to the bookstore anyways to pick up her new book Black Heels to Tractor Wheels

When I arrived I was shocked to find that SHE WAS ACTUALLY THERE still doing her signing.  So duh I waited in line for 2 hours to get my book I had just purchased signed by none other than Ree Drummond -The Pioneer Woman- herself!  Oh and I got to meet Marlboro Man and I saw their cute little kiddos. MM really is a hunky cowboy. Mr. Sophisticate arrived just in time to take a pic of P-dub & I!

At this point I am one happy girl!  I read through half the book Saturday night.  Quite a great little love story.

We had already scheduled a plumber (through our home warranty) to come out Sunday morning to check out our hot water tank.  Our hot water doesn't last for too long at a time.... like don't plan on taking longer than an 8 minute warm shower at our house.  Not to mention the tank looks ancient & nasty.  Anyways the other plumber arrived Sunday morning & of course said yup you guys FOR SURE need a new hot water tank and by the way hardly anything about this hot water tank is up to code.  So he took pictures and is submitting it to our home warranty to see what all will be covered.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that most of it will be covered.  Oh the joys of being a homeowner!

In an effort to turn my frown upside down we went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond & purchased this little guy called the Shark!  We had some gift cards to spare so why not?!  It's a vacuum & mop steamer all in one.  I've heard good things about it so hopefully it helps with cleaning the wood floors in our house.

We had our friend Steven over to watch the superbowl Sunday night.  None of us were really into it but we watched it anyways and indulged in some aged cheese & crackers he picked up for us at Forward Foods.... yummmmmy! Not your typical "super bowl food".

Steven
This weekend was filled with highs & lows.  I'm glad the weekend is over.  I'm thankful to have water.  I'm thankful to have warm water.  I pray our hot water tank is covered by our home warranty.  I'm loving my new book.  The Black Eyed Pea's were terrible.  Christina messed up on the national anthem.  I now have a shark.  Over 2,000 Oklahoman's were treated this weekend at OKMOM. I love my husband for not killing me this weekend for having a terrible attitude at times.  I'm ready to get back in the swing of things & have this yucky blizzard gone for GOOD.

Congratulations if you made it through the entire post.

I think that was some therapy for me :) Thanks for listening.

Have a Happy Monday loveys!

Smile Friday: OKMOM

This puts a HUGE smile across my face.  I am so excited and thrilled that I have the opportunity to serve Oklahoman's today & tomorrow here in Oklahoma City.  I will be volunteering my services at the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy.  I am very happy to be helping Oklahoman's who don't have dental insurance or are under insured get their dental treatment & cleanings that are much needed.  I will get to see Gods hand touching the lives of many people.  And this will keep me smiling for quite some time!  I love my career.  I love that nearly everyone at my office volunteered for this great cause.  This blizzard will NOT come in the way of OKMOM.

Happy Friday!!

SNOW DAY #2

Our friend & neighbor Hanieh came over to play in the snow!  I attempted to make a snowman (located behind us) but it ended up looking like a pyramid/nipple. So I didn't take any pictures of that.

I'm going to be honest I did NOTHING that was on my to do list for the day.  I wanted to have some fun on my last snow day... can ya blame a girl?

I did however decide to shred today.  I started boiling my water.. to bathe & wash my hair,  if you're confused at this point read up on THIS, and popped in the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.  I love this work out... it kills me every time.  Just when I think my stamina is up I move on to the next level and BAM get knocked back down with shaky arms & legs,  gasping for air.

i swear i did not plan strength to be on the screen
So I planned it just right..... after my shred my water was boiling and I was able to wash my hair in the sink!  Whoooo Hooooo.  I feel like it's a challenge so I'm strangely enjoying it.  My bath however did not have the right mixture of boiling water with freezing tap water and it was little on the chilly side.  Oh well you live and learn right.

I decided to make a "semi-homemade" pizza for lunch.

I swear on my life I did not plan for this to be a heart shaped pizza.  But I used my rolling pin for the crust and it kinda just formed the heart shape and I "rolled with it" ha! I'll post pics from this recipe closer to V-day seeing as how it's all heart themed now.

Mr. Sophisticate & I were starting to get cabin fever & I was CRAVING sbuxs, iced venti chai latte with 8 pumps to be exact.  I HAD TO HAVE IT.  It's all I could concentrate on.  So finally Mr. Sophisticate was tired of listening to me whine about how I couldn't go on any longer till I had one in my hands and we ventured out. Only to find that sbuxs was closed. DOY! But then we saw hideaway was open.  And that made it all better.  Plus I ate my body weight in fried mushrooms.  But now my stomach is REALLY ticked off at me.

my drink of choice is in the middle row to the right :)

The picture above is from a Friday afternoon of running errands with my girlfriend Ash over at Smile Steady.  Maison from sbuxs was kind enough to give us 2 extra drinks on top of our 2 we had originally ordered.  We were in heaven :)

See nothing too productive.  Besides the shred.

My work is open today! Woooo Hoooo I'm ready to clean some teeth.  Mr. Sophisticate is going to be my knight in shining armor and drive me to work today!

Have a happy Thursday :)

SNOW DAY #1

It is snow day #2 for us!!! I for one am VERY excited.  Let me share what I have accomplished on snow day #1.

  • Washed my hair in the sink with a mixture of boiled water & freezing cold tap water.  You guessed it... our pipes are FROZEN.  I guess that's what we get for having an old 1940's home.  Don't get me wrong I am head over heels in love with our home.  Minus the frozen pipes, drafty windows,  and all the home improvements in our future :)
  • Took a tiny bath with all 4 pots of boiling water & freezing cold tap water.... which made for a tiny bath with luke warm water.  I finally gave in and heated up the water around 2:00 AFTER we tried to drive over to a friends house to shower and got stuck trying to get out of our driveway.  Luckily we had some sweet neighbors that helped us get back in our driveway.
  • Cleaned out my purse.  It was really gross.  I also took pictures (not with the gross stuff) and plan on doing a "What's in my Handbag" post.
  • Blogged about Valentine Skadoodlehopper's This is an easy recipe and SO delish.
  • Deleted all my pictures off my camera & started to delete them off my iphone.  Don't worry I have already imported them to my iphoto.
  • Cleaned out my personal email.  This is embarrassing but I had 1,500 emails to go through. MOST of them were unimportant ones.... such as Old Navy, Bare minerals, J Crew, you know those coupon emails you get daily.  I did the same thing with my email last year about this time.  When cleaning it out this time around I found that I was pretty good about keeping up with it till September.  I think this is when wedding planning got the best of me.
  • Researched the Kappa Kappa Gamma Leadership Academy.  I am interested in going to this Leadership Academy. It's in September Thursday-Sunday.  I am a dental hygienist at a pediatric dental office and I am also clinical supervisor there.  I am always looking for ways to GROW as a leader.  I feel like being a clinical supervisor puts me in "leadership role" and I want to make sure I am constantly challenging myself & growing to become a better, stronger leader.
  • Compiled all my TAX information to send off to my CPA.  I don't trust myself to do it on my own.  I don't want the IRS after me! Plus we have had a family accountant for years & years that we trust.
  • Researched getting involved in the Junior League of Oklahoma City.  It's a great way to get involved in community service, meet new people, and once again grow as a leader.
  • EAT EAT EAT. I cooked chicken & dumplings the night before the "blizzard" hit so we ate on that all day yesterday.  Along with some oatmeal, cereal, & mac n cheese :)  Oh and ONE valentine skadoodlehopper that was left :( sad day.
poor guy doesn't like going potty in the deep cold snow

snow drifts whooop whooop

the hubs cleaning off our cars & shoveling the driveway

I already have a list of things to do today.  Maybe I'll share tomorrow, that is if I didn't bore you enough with the list above.

First on the list..... BOIL SOME WATER TO WASH MY HAIR!

Valentine Skadoodlehopper's

I FIRST must give credit where credit is due.  Annie over at Adorkable Annie posted this recipe last week and it looked soooo delish I couldn't resist replicating it.  Annie also created the name "skadoodlehopper" because seriously who likes the word cake balls  anyways!

The recipe is RIDONKULOUSLY easy. I mean really.

DO NOT USE the chocolate bars in the picture
(3 eggs not pictured)

Bake your yellow cake.

After the cake is baked, in a bowl mix the cake with the full container of icing.

Roll the cake/icing mixture into little cake balls skadoodlehopper's.

OK this is real important DO NOT try to use these.

Instead use this as your dipping chocolate/vanilla.  Works MUCH better :)

Dip away! Decorate your skadoodlehopper's when the chocolate/vanilla is still warm.

These skadoodlehopper's are TO DIE FOR! OMG so easy to make and so DELISH.
